大阪YMCAインターナショナルハイスクールの恒例行事、スピーチコンテストが今年も開催されました。一年を締めくくる行事、テストも終わってあとはクリスマスだけというこの日はどの顔にも笑みが見られます。
今年の、スピーチコンテスト参加者は１年生が7名、2年生が2名の合計9名です。全員が英語でスピーチを行い、生徒を含む審査員がそれを審査します。優勝者には豪華賞品も用意されるとあって、皆、力が入ります。スピーチの内容は、「将来の夢」や、「留学経験から学んだこと」、「タバコの弊害」までそれぞれが考えて設定します。

Hello, everyone. My name is Honami Tomimura. Today, I'm going to talk about my dream for the future. Do you know ballet? I want be a professional ballerina. First, I like classic ballet because it is very interesting. I have been dancing ballet since I was five years old. I thrive on ballet. I often dance ballet at home, and It’s always in my heart.
Secondly, I want to dance on a big stage, for example; European castles, because there are a lot of respectable prima ballerinas. My favorite ballerina is Miyako Yoshida. She is short like me but she is a very famous ballerina known around the world. She is even better than any European ballerinas. I would like to feel the applause of a big crowd. It would be wonderful.
Thirdly, I want to be a professional ballerina because my dance teacher wants me to be. She cares about me so very much. She is very strict, but I am learning a lot from her. I want to repay my ballet teacher's kindness by becoming a famous ballerina. Now, I dance ballet at recitals. I put on the tutu. It is very beautiful and cute. Ballet recitals are very interesting and impressive, so I like participating in them.
To be a ballerina, I'm planning to practice a lot. By practicing and being on stage often, I want to experience what it means to be a professional ballerina. Thank you for listening to my dream. I will do a little dance. (Honami performs ballet a little.)
