前期をふりかえって/ About 1st semester in 2023

　残暑お見舞い申し上げます。

　7月31日の前期コメンスメント/終業式をもって、前期の授業がすべて終了しました。前期中のIHSの教育活動にご理解、ご協力いただき、ありがとうございました。

　3年ぶりに茶話会を実施することができ、久しぶりにIHSらしい旅立ちの日になりました。準備にご協力いただきました保護者の皆さま、お忙しい中ご調整いただき、誠にありがとうございました。卒業する3名のためにクラスメイトが作ったムービーは、想いのこもった、温かいものであり、感動的なものでした。3名それぞれの道が、明るく温かい光に包まれていることを、願っています。

　また、茶話会の中では"Drama and Performance "のステージ発表がありました。ストーリーも自分たちで作り上げたオリジナルで、前期を通して練習に励んできました。当日は舞台裏でお互い声を掛け合いながら、参加メンバーは初めての英語劇を演じきりました。

　さらに、8月2日には外部向けの公開授業があり、3年生は生徒一人ひとりが自分のテーマを掘り下げる卒業論文の中間発表プレゼンテーションを行いました。それぞれに調べて来たものを今後も深めていく予定です。1年生は貿易ゲームに取り組み、世界の格差や市場の動向について体感することができました。

　現在夏休み期間中ですが、8月中旬からは学院スクーリング、月末からは英検対策やSociologyなど自由に履修できる特別単位授業が始まります。9月には1・2年生は三者面談を予定しています。保護者の皆さまとお話しできることを、担任一同楽しみにしております。

　3年生は大学受験に向けて、夏休み中も進路指導を個別に行っております。夏休み中に出願期間が設定されている大学もあります。学校側が用意する必要のある書類作成には時間がかかりますので、必ず早目に相談するように、お子様にお声かけください。

　最後に、8月いっぱいで3年生担任の秦佳祐が離任することとなりました。保護者の皆様、生徒のみなさんにも伝えたいことがたくさんあるとのことなので、後日本人からのメッセージを何らかの形でお届けいたします。年度途中での体制変更となりますが、引き続き、スタッフ一同生徒1人ひとりの成長のために尽力して参ります。

　お一人おひとりにとって有意義な夏休みになること、また、皆さまの健康と安全をお祈りしております。

　With the Commencement/End of School Ceremony on July 31, all classes for the first semester have been completed. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in the educational activities of IHS during the first semester, and for the first time in three years, we were able to hold a tea party after the graduation ceremony, making it the most IHS-like departure day in a long time. Thank you to all the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to help us prepare for the event, and we hope that the paths of each of the three graduating students are filled with bright and warm light. Thank you to all the parents who helped with the preparations.

　The movie that the classmates made for the three graduating students was warm, thoughtful, and moving. There was also a "Drama and Performance" stage presentation during the tea party. The story was an original one created by the students themselves, and they had practiced hard throughout the first semester. On the day of the event, the participating students performed their first English-language play while talking to each other backstage.

　In addition, on August 2, there was an open class for the public, and each student in the third grade gave a mid-term presentation of their graduation thesis, in which they delved into their own theme. The first-year students played a trade game, which allowed them to experience global disparities and market trends.

In September, 1st and 2nd year students are scheduled to have a three-way meeting with their parents and teachers. The homeroom teachers are looking forward to talking with parents and guardians.

　Third-year students will continue to receive individual guidance during the summer vacation in preparation for university entrance examinations. Some universities have an application period during the summer vacation. Please be sure to ask your child to consult with us as soon as possible, as it takes time for the school to prepare the necessary paperwork.

　Lastly, Keisuke Shin, the 3rd grade homeroom teacher, will be leaving the school at the end of August. He has many things he would like to convey to parents and students alike, so we will deliver a message from his successor in the near future. Although this is a mid-year change in structure, the entire staff will continue to make every effort for the growth of each and every student.
