日頃から英語を学びめきめきと実力をつけているＩＨＳの生徒たち。彼らの日頃の努力がクリスマス前のこの季節に実を結びます。今日はスピーチコンテスト。この日にむけて各クラスで選抜された面々が自信作をたずさえ全校生徒の前でスピーチを披露します。出演者は総勢８名。今回の出場者は全て１年生でした。
皆、一様に緊張の面持ちで演台に向かいます。徐々に緊張がほぐれてくるもの、途中でつっかえて悔しそうな顔をするもの、それぞれがいままで練習を重ねてきた、その成果を少しでも出そうと頑張りました。そのスピーチの内容もバラエティにとんでいます。田舎での生活や東京案内、自分の人生に影響を与えた話や自分の夢の話など、とても面白い内容でした。本当に、誰が優勝するか誰にも想像すら出来ない、それほど実力の伯仲している面々でした。優勝者には５０００円の、２位、３位にはそれぞれ３０００円、２０００円の商品券が贈られると聞いて、出場者のボルテージも俄然アップします。
そんな激戦を勝ち抜き、見事優勝を手にいれたのは･･･？

今年は一年生のみの出場となりましたが、どの生徒もレベルが高いだけに、審査員も頭を悩ませていました。
そのハイレベルな戦いを見事制したのが徳山英悟くん。それでは彼のスピーチ原稿をごらんください。
Love Christmas
Do you like Christmas? I think all of you like Christmas but I hate Christmas.
I have three reasons why I hate Christmas.
First reason is because I am single. All the couples go to same place like Tennoji, Umeda etc. It is very annoying because they just stay at there do nothing so I can’t there for shopping. I just want to say them is that if you have nothing to do them just go home eat Nabe or invite your friends and do Takoyaki party.
Second reason is because I hate Santa. There is no Santa in Osaka and it is crime to go inside the house from the chimney without permission and put something into the sox. The person who gives me a Christmas present is my father and I have never seen Santa before so I can not believe Santa.
Third reason is I am not Christian. I was interested in Christian before and I read bible but I felt bored and I slept very well
In conclusion, I really hate Christmas because I don’t have a girlfriend, I hate Santa and I am not interested in Christian. Christmas is very boring for singles and you should not talk about Christmas in front of the people who is single. If you have no plane, then please call me but only for girls please
