Greetings from NZ！

This is Ayano from New Zealand. I've been studying abroad here since October. Autumn is arriving in New Zealand, and I just enjoyed celebrating Christmas in summer for the first time ever!

I live with my host mother and her dog, Murphy. They are lovely and make me feel comfortable. My host mother provides me with a lot of delicious food. We usually watch TV together after dinner. Murphy always comes close to me and sits on my lap. He often tries to eat my food, especially the meat! I joined a Christmas party with my host mother's relatives. I was a bit nervous, but everyone was so kind to me, and we had a great time together. It was so much fun!

I'm attending a secondary school with 1,600 students. Honestly, before coming here, I was worried about I could make friends. But everyone has been so welcoming, and I've made lots of friends. The education system here is very different from Japanese schools and YMCA, so I'm really enjoying this new school life. My friends are not only from New Zealand but also from Samoa, South Africa, the Philippines, Tonga, and more. We share our countries' cultures and teach each other funny slang. My favorite culture so far is "Siva Samoa" from Samoan culture.

I have 4 months left to stay here, but I know the time to return to Japan will come sooner than I think. I'll do my best to enjoy this lifestyle and learn more to improve myself.

Kia ora! ニュージーランドのあやのです。10月からこちらで留学しています。ニュージーランドに秋が訪れ、初めて夏にクリスマスを祝うことを楽しみました！

ホストマザーと彼女の愛犬、マーフィーと一緒に住んでいます。彼らはとても素敵で、快適に過ごしています。ホストマザーはおいしい食べ物をたくさん用意してくれます。私たちは通常、夕食の後に一緒にテレビを見ます。マーフィーはいつも私のそばに来て、私の膝の上に座ります。彼はよく私の食べ物、特に肉を食べようとします！ホストマザーの親戚とのクリスマスパーティーにも参加しました。少し緊張しましたが、みんなとても親切で、一緒に楽しい時間を過ごしました。本当に楽しかったです！

　私は1,600人の生徒がいる学校に通っています。正直、ここに来る前は友達ができるか心配でした。でも、みんながとても歓迎してくれて、たくさんの友達ができました。こちらの教育システムは日本の学校やYMCAとは大きく異い、こちらでの新しい学校生活を本当に楽しんでいます。友達はニュージーランドだけでなく、サモア、南アフリカ、フィリピン、トンガなどからも来ています。お互いの国の文化を共有し、面白いスラングを教え合っています。今のところ私のお気に入りの文化は、サモアの文化の「シバ・サモア」です。

　ここにいるのはあと4ヶ月ですが、思っているより早く帰国の日が来ることを知っています。NZでのライフスタイルを楽しみ、成長できるように最後まで学びたいと思います。
